Our adult and family trips are geared to the desire of our guests.
We enjoy getting people involved with the sailing of the Alcyone
within their comfort level. For some people life aboard a boat is an
education in itself and for the other more experienced sailors,
learning to sail a sixty-five foot gaff rigged topmast schooner that sets
course, raffee and stunsails is a reeducation in sailing.

Sailing with other families on board the Alcyone is always fun.
Alcyone is a kid-friendly vessel; with her high bulwarks the whole
deck is open for wandering around. She sets lots of sails and even the
youngest sailors lend a hand. We have books and games for all ages,
dories to row and a sailing skiff -- enough activities to amuse the
whole family. With the San Juan Islands so close together, cruising is
a wonderful way to explore them, especially the outer islands with
their parks and trails. The best part is that the boat is home, so naps
(for the parents) or sleeping in late (for the teenagers) or snacks (for
all ages) just happen.

On adult trips we can carry three couples comfortably. The boat is
laid out so each couple would have their own cabin (and a modest
amount of boat privacy). The itinerary of full-boat trips is up to our
guests (and Mother Nature). A typical day might involve breakfast, a
run ashore in the morning, a sail to a new anchorage while enjoying
lunch underway and a late afternoon hike or a barbecue ashore.
Food, we eat well, everyone is impressed and enjoys the meals. All
that fresh air makes people hungry! Given advanced notice most
dietary restrictions can be accommodated. Our rates include meals,
wine with dinner, bedding and towels. Alcyone is a dry ship while she
is sailing, but once the anchor is down , adults are allowed to partake
in their favorite adult beverage. You may bring your drink of choice.

We have had the pleasure of sailing and sharing our home with a
wide variety of guest in the last twenty years; from Magge who at 91
sailed down from Alaska with us to Sophia and her parents who
sailed with us when Sophia was two. We enjoy the opportunity of
meeting new people and sharing our enthusiasm, knowledge and love
of sailing with them.
