Requested Recipes and Thoughts on
Cooking
This, like all of the web page, is going to be a work in progress. If the words are highlighted
you can click on them to go a recipe or a section that has my thoughts about cooking.

Over the twenty plus years that I have chartered, cruised, done sail training,
and lived aboard the Alcyone, I have developed certain cooking habits. They
differ depending on whether we are chartering, doing an offshore passage, or
are getting youth involved in cooking (forget the sailing): baking Banana
Bread
in the morning before guests arrive for a charter, or making First Nights
Soup on an ocean passage, or helping organize a successful Calazone dinner on
a youth trip. I am planning on mentioning some recipes and tips. I will see
how this goes.

People always assume that I am this great cook. I do enjoy cooking while I am
on the boat, I think that it is the pace involved. What I am doing when I am
on the boat is cooking, I am not trying to rush off and get a hundred other
things done. I am cooking and trying to figure out how to keep everyone
happy. I don't know that I am a great cook though, so when people pay me
that compliment, I thank them and usually reply, " It is all the fresh air that
makes the food taste so good", that and the fact that they aren't having to do
the cooking.

There are certain recipes people are always asking for and these are the recipes
that follow:

Dill Sauce ( served with salmon)
Banana Bread
Calzones ( We switched from pizza to this because then everyone can have the
toppings they like.)
